Care for Sparta

Care for Sparta and southern Sussex County

LIVE FULLY NOW Rehab and Wellness is at 106 E Moore St in downtown Hackettstown, reached from Sparta via Route 15 and Route 206 through Netcong. Manual lymph drainage is a distinct service here, with a further page dedicated to lymphedema management.

Sessions are designed to help your body release built-up tension and restore natural balance. Many clients experience deep relaxation during treatment along with improved mobility and reduced pain.

Swelling is rarely the only thing in play after surgery or injury. Manual lymph drainage and lymphedema management can be combined with myofascial release for restricted tissue, acupuncture or CranioSacral Therapy, all from the same team.

The clinic publishes dedicated pages for the following:

What we offer

Therapies available to Sparta patients

Each service below has its own page on the site. Which ones apply to your situation is what the free consultation is for.

Manual lymph drainage

Gentle techniques encouraging lymph flow to help manage swelling, including after surgery. It is offered as a service in its own right rather than as an add-on to massage.

Lymphedema management

A dedicated page beneath manual lymph drainage, covering the ongoing management of chronic swelling rather than short-term post-operative recovery alone.

Myofascial release

Hands-on work on the fascia network supporting muscles and movement, with a trigger point therapy page beneath it and a dedicated page on frozen shoulder.

Acupuncture

Board-certified acupuncture backed by a Master’s in Oriental Medicine, with dedicated pages for acupuncture for sciatica and for digestive health.

CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy is offered at the Hackettstown clinic and has its own page, with a dedicated headache relief page beneath it.

Clinical Pilates

Supports rebuilding strength and control once tissue is ready for loading again, with its own page on the site.

Around Sparta

Three things that shape a Sparta week

Sparta is organised around its lake, and the way the town is built keeps people outdoors through most of the year.

Lake Mohawk

Lake Mohawk was created starting in January 1926 when the Arthur D. Crane Company dammed the Brogden Meadow valley, producing the largest private artificial lake in New Jersey. Lake life keeps people active year-round, and recovery that stalls after an injury is exactly what manual lymph drainage is used to move along.

White Deer Plaza and the boardwalk

Sparta’s White Deer Plaza and Boardwalk District was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988, and a historic 1,000-foot boardwalk runs along the plaza with views of the lake and its distinctive Lake Mohawk Tudor architecture. It is heavily used for walking and running.

Sparta Glen and the rail trail

The town’s outdoor assets include Sparta Glen’s wooded stream trails and the Paulinskill Valley Rail Trail. Where an active week leaves something that will not settle, dry needling and sports injury recovery are both available at the clinic.

Who treats you

The clinicians at Live Fully Now

Under Blake Schicker’s leadership, the clinic provides innovative, holistic, client-centered care aimed at helping people reclaim their health and live life to its fullest potential.

Blake Schicker, owner and lead therapist

Blake holds board certifications in both OT and Acupuncture, a Master’s in Oriental Medicine, and extensive training in numerous alternative therapies, built on degrees from Rutgers University, the University of Wisconsin and the Eastern School of Acupuncture and Traditional Medicine. His route into the field was personal: he overcame multiple traumatic injuries, including a fractured spine, a fractured skull and concussion, and a broken arm, wrist and nose, and turned that rigorous process of self-healing and education into a passion for helping others. He was honoured with the Spirit of the Great Sage award in 2023 for clinical excellence, and has lectured at Dominican College on craniosacral therapy and myofascial release to master’s-level occupational therapists.

Jennifer Hermans, acupuncture and physical therapy

Jennifer Z. Hermans blends extensive physical therapy experience with acupuncture, a useful combination for anyone navigating a post-surgical recovery. She earned her B.A. in Psychology in 2003, volunteered for a year as a school counselor in inner-city Catholic grammar schools in Chicago, then returned to New Jersey working with children and adults with developmental disabilities. She obtained her Physical Therapy license in 2012 and has practised in orthopedic physical therapy across multidisciplinary settings, before training as an acupuncturist after experiencing the results as a patient herself.

Further therapies at the clinic

Beyond lymph work and hands-on rehabilitation, several other services are offered at the same clinic, each with its own page.

E-Stim electroacupuncture

Gentle electrical stimulation added to acupuncture needling, with its own page on the site. It is used where standard needling alone is not reaching the problem.

Digestive health acupuncture

A separate strand of the acupuncture practice aimed at digestive complaints rather than musculoskeletal pain, carrying a dedicated page of its own.

Reiki, Tui Na and Shiatsu

Energy and bodywork options grouped under one section of the site, each with its own page. Reiki is offered for stress relief in a calm, quiet treatment setting.

Therapeutic massage and Clinical Pilates

Therapeutic massage is available at the Hackettstown clinic, and Clinical Pilates supports rebuilding strength and control once tissue is ready. Both have their own pages.

The clinic's approach

Why the name says Rehab and Wellness

The company name reflects a deep commitment to both immediate and holistic well-being. “Live Fully Now” captures a philosophy emphasising the importance of seizing the present moment and striving for a life filled with vitality and purpose, on the view that true wellness goes beyond merely addressing physical or mental health issues and is about living intentionally and embracing every day with purpose. Including “Rehab and Wellness” in the name reflects a dual focus: recovering from pain, stress and trauma as well as striving for optimal health. The clinic is dedicated to supporting clients through their healing journeys while also promoting comprehensive well-being, serving people who want immediate relief and people working toward long-term improvement alike. For a Sussex County patient weighing the drive, the practical upshot is that the drainage work, the fascia work, the needling and the strength rebuilding all come from the same small team in one location and can be sequenced inside a single plan.
